The basics of liquid restaking and AutoLayer, plus the risks to understand first.
Basics
What is AutoLayer?
AutoLayer is a Liquid Restaking Token (LRT) finance app on Arbitrum. It lets you restake into various LRT and LST options with one click while keeping and compounding your yield. Its line is "All LRTfi. One interface."
What is restaking?
Restaking means reusing assets that are already staked to help secure additional services. On EigenLayer, those services are called Actively Validated Services (AVS). In return for taking on extra risk, restakers can earn extra rewards.
What are LST and LRT?
A liquid staking token (LST) is a token you receive for staked ETH that you can still use elsewhere. A liquid restaking token (LRT) does the same for restaked assets, so your position stays tradable and usable in DeFi.
What is an AVS?
An Actively Validated Service is a network or service that borrows security from restaked assets on EigenLayer. Operators validate it, and restakers back those operators.
Was AutoLayer called something else before?
Yes. AutoLayer was formerly Tortle Ninja, which launched on Arbitrum in August 2023. The AutoLayer contracts were deployed on 1 March 2024, with the latest version deployed on 12 March 2024.
Using AutoLayer
Which networks does AutoLayer run on?
Arbitrum, where AutoLayer launched in August 2023, and BNB Chain, where you can restake with Renzo Protocol and ether.fi LRTs.
Which protocols does AutoLayer connect to?
Version 1 connects to EigenLayer, Renzo Protocol, Kelp DAO, Uniswap, Balancer, ParaSwap, Camelot (through ParaSwap) and GMX. Version 2 adds other protocols deploying LRTs on Arbitrum.
Does AutoLayer run its own swaps?
No. AutoLayer does not run its own swaps, mints or perps. An intent-based engine connects to available liquidity on Arbitrum and selects a route, and it bundles several steps into one transaction.
Does AutoLayer hold my funds?
No. It is non-custodial software: you transact from your own wallet and keep control of your keys. See the terms of use for details.
Risk and security
Is this financial advice?
No. AutoLayer and this website provide an interface and information only. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. Make your own decisions and only use funds you can afford to lose.
Has the code been audited?
The original contracts were audited by PeckShield under the Tortle Ninja name. Newer contracts go through audit as they ship. An audit lowers risk but does not remove it.
What can go wrong?
Main risks include smart contract bugs, slashing of restaked assets, LRT depegs that cascade into liquidations, oracle faults, Layer 2 problems and regulatory change. Read the full risk disclosure before using any DeFi product.
What is slashing?
Slashing is a penalty where part of the staked or restaked assets is taken when an operator or service breaks its rules. It is one of the main extra risks of restaking.
Company
